The notion that I’m about an hour and a half away from this Reese’s Pieces Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread at almost any given time is a tinge alarming. This might be the banana bread. The banana bread. The only banana bread. It’s stuffed with heaps and heaps of chocolate chips (as always), Reese’s peanut butter chips, and Reese’s Pieces. There’s more of all those things on top. The whole this is smothered in melted peanut butter, too, which was honestly completely unnecessary. I don’t know why I did it. This banana bread really didn’t need any more peanut butter. But if the question that appears in front of me is, “Should I drizzle melted peanut butter on top of this?” well, the answer, invariably, is yes.
Furthermore, I was taking out the jar of peanut butter regardless, because Omar’s peanut butter radar started going off the minute I started pouring the Reese’s Pieces into the batter. Omar’s peanut butter radar is almost as strong as his regular butter radar (his strongest radar), and I couldn’t let this whole project go down in the kitchen without him getting a little lick of the ole PB. He’s just the best little sous chef and my buddy deserved it. But once the jar was in front of me, there was no going back. I gave some to my dog to lick off a spoon as I melted a bowl of the stuff to put on my banana bread.
This might be “too much” for some of you, but if you’re someone who dreams about chocolaty peanut butter desserts at night (I went through a phase where I kept Reese’s on my nightstand next to my bed which could have been explain the dreams), then you should really make this Reese’s Pieces Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Bread without further ado.
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup 1 stick butter softened
- 1 1/2 cups mashed bananas usually about three large bananas
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips plus more for sprinkling on top
- 1 cup Reese's Piece's plus more for sprinkling on top
- 3/4 cup Reese's Peanut Butter chips plus more for sprinkling on top
- 1/2 cup peanut butter melted
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350° F and grease a standard loaf pan with cooking spray or line with parchment paper. Set aside.
-
Cream together the sugar and butter until smooth. Then, beat in the mashed bananas, eggs, and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, salt), and then stir into the banana mixture until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips, Reese's Pieces, and peanut butter chips.
-
Pour the batter into the loaf pan, and bake for 30 minutes. Then, cover the loaf with a loose tent of aluminum foil, and continue to bake for another 30-40 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean (the aluminum foil is to prevent your banana bread from browning too much on the top!) Allow the bread to cool for up for an hour before removing from the pan. Once you remove it from the pan, drizzle the top with melted peanut butter and top with the remaining chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and Reese's Pieces.
