Golden Cookie Party Chocolate Chip Cookies

The names of some of my desserts are getting to be a lot these days (see above name for reference). But the more things that I decide to load into cookies and cupcakes and bars lately, the more adjectives I have to add to the dessert’s name so that they are adequately described for someone perusing my blog. I just feel like the more descriptive I am with the monikers of my creations, the more it generally gets the people going. So, for this exact reason, I don’t quite know how else to describe the cookie we’re discussing today as anything but the Golden Cookie Party Chocolate Chip Cookie. Let’s break it down.

The Golden Cookie part is reference to the Golden Vanilla Sandwich Cookies that are crushed up within the cookie dough and also sit on top of each cookie. They are basically the same thing as Golden Oreos if you’ve ever had those, but I bought the store brand and figured I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference (I couldn’t, but this may or may not have been because it was the first time I’ve ever tried a Golden Sandwich Cookie before so I had nothing to compare it to). Besides, I really could care less whether my store-bought cookies were name-brand or not; they’re always a few cents cheaper and a few cents cheaper tickles me fancy. Let’s move on.

The rainbow sprinkles represent the “party” in these cookies. I actually made these cookies a few months ago, on my sweet Omar’s 3rd birthday. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, I made dog-friendly Pupcakes for my good boy and his good boy and good girl friends. The Pupcakes were obviously the most important dessert that day, but I did feel like I needed to make a festive human treat for the occasion as well. After all, it’s not every day that your dog-child turns three. Enter: rainbow sprinkles, my favorite, most festive baking-related specimens in existence. Rainbow sprinkles in the cookie dough just absolutely screamed to me, “it’s my dog’s 3rd birthday and I’m ready for a party in my cookie.”

Lastly, at the base of it all, is my beloved chocolate chip cookie. I was going to use white chocolate chips in the cookies to go along with the whole “Golden/Vanilla Sandwich Cookie” theme. And while I am a lover of white chocolate chips for sure, I just felt like semi-sweet was the move here. I really have no regrets, because the regular chocolate chips were delicious. Besides, if I had used white chocolate chips, I would have had to add another word to the name of these cookies. Golden Cookie Party White Chocolate Chip Cookies is even more of a mouthful and I just can’t deal with something like that yet.

All in all, the Golden Cookie Party Chocolate Chip Cookies was a delightfully solid cookie despite it having a slightly over-the-top name, and the Golden Sandwich Cookie is a cookie mix-in that which I will certainly be experimenting with again. For someone as obsessed with traditional “chocolate” Oreos as I am, I honestly can’t believe I’ve lived a whole life without dabbling much in the Golden Sandwich Cookie side of things.

Golden Cookie Party Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks) room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 package Golden Oreos or Golden Sandwich Cookies
  • 1 cup rainbow sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375° F and grease cookie sheets with baking spray or line with baking mats.
  2. With an electric mixer, beat together the butter and the sugars until creamy. Mix in the vanilla, and then add the eggs, one at a time, mixing slowly after each addition.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt. Add this mixture into the butter/sugar mixture slowly, stirring well. Crush up about 10-12 Golden Sandwich Cookies and mix the cookie pieces into the dough. Then, fold in the chocolate chips and sprinkles.
  4. Optional but recommended step: place the cookie dough in the fridge for about 30 minutes to chill the dough. This is helpful if your cookies tend to come out flat; they will not spread as much if the dough is chilled.
  5. Scoop dough into rounded tablespoons about 2 inches apart on the cookie sheets for about smaller cookies. I like to make larger cookies by putting about 3-4 tablespoons of dough for each cookie. If you decide to make them large, only put about 6 on each cookie sheet.
  6. Bake for 9-11 minutes (until the edges look slightly crispy). Top the warm cookies with an extra Golden Sandwich Cookie by pressing them gently on to the tops of each cookie, and wait about 10-15 minutes before eating.

Does anyone know what happened to Dime Piece LA celebrity streetwear brand? I am having trouble to check out on Dimepiecela site. I have read in Vanity Fair that they were acquired by a UK-based hedge fund in excess of $50m. I’ve just bought the Dimepiece Dream Case Mate Tough Phone Cases from Ebay and absolutely love it xox
