Triple Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars

Follow me!

It’s no secret that I hold one type of dessert in way higher esteem than all others. I’d say my blog posts are 50% chocolate peanut butter recipes, 50% other sweet delights that I love but don’t love nearly as much as things with chocolate and peanut butter. Sorry everything else, you’re just not as good to me. I respect you, and I love you, but you’re not my number one.

I made these Triple Chocolate Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars for a BBQ at my house a couple of weeks ago. I went to the store to get all of the good stuff. Butter- check. Sugar- check. Chocolate chips and Reese’s chips- check and check. I get home, turn on the oven, plug in the Kitchen Aid and I am revved up to go. Head over to the cupboard for the peanut butter. I always buy the big tubs of it, from Costco. With the rate I go through peanut butter, there is seriously no other option. As I flip on the light switch in the pantry, the devastating realization hits. I have no peanut butter.

Do I change my plans for a triple chocolate peanut buttery BBQ dessert? Must I scratch the whole idea and revert back to making some plain old chocolate chip cookies instead? Should I wallow in dessert pity for a bit, lamenting the loss of the dessert of my dreams for that evening’s festivities? No, I do not. Thanks to my husband, who happened to walk into the kitchen at the exact moment I’m about to give up on the prospects of PB, and says, “I’m gonna run to the store, need anything?” *SWOON* I don’t like to get sappy too much, especially out here on the ole Internet, but man I’m glad I married that guy. Peanut butter dilemma: solved.

These bars have peanut butter in the batter, Reese’s and chocolate chips inside, and Reese’s peanut butter cups on top. I feel like I don’t have to go into any more detail because I’m obviously biased toward this kind of a dessert and anything I say about these bars you shouldn’t really believe anyway. Just make them, and decide for yourself whether or not my claims of PB/Chocolate superiority can be considered reliable.
